The Sandlot Team

Our team at The Sandlot are some of the most qualified baseball and softball coaches in America! They have extensive baseball and/or softball backgrounds. Each and every one of our instructors have been certified in The Sandlot National Training Program, and have passed The Kids Sports Network Training.

When our team trains our students our approach is based on the five physical tools that major league baseball scouts look at when evaluating players. Those five physical tools are:
Running: speed and base running abilities
Fielding: softness of hands, exchange from glove to throwing hand
Throwing: arm strength and accuracy
Hitting for average: situational hitting
Power Hitting: abilities to drive the ball

The sixth and maybe the most important area a scout evaluates is referred to in the industry as "makeup". This in essence is the character of the player, the overall players attitude, dedication, level of respect and self confidence. Many times the sixth tool, the players mental aspect, determines if the player makes the team, earns the scholarship, or is offered the professional contract. This sixth element is the core of The Sandlot training and how we differentiate ourselves from the competition.

The Sandlot CHAMPS philosophy is based on encouraging and rewarding positive behavior for each student in his or her game, at home and at school. The positive characteristics taught at The Sandlot are are qualities that help our students succeed in not only being better ball players, but also better participants at home and at school. Here at The Sandlot we create not only better players, but better kids. We developed CHAMPS based on the following:

C COACHABLE    H HONOR    A ATTITUDE    M MENTOR    P PRIDE    S SPORTSMANSHIP

Summary:
I have been so fortunate to have a family and a travel ball coach like Eddie Lynch who has been very supportive of my decisions in athletics growing up. After playing under Coach Lynch I wanted to be an influence to my players as he was to me. I have not heard of many High School coaches or coaches in general who work to get their players to the next level until I came to the sandlot. I want to help athletes achieves their highest potential and want to work with the ones who want that for themselves as well. My wish is that these young athletes take advantage of the opportunity to learn from me as I did from my coaches and apply it to their own lives on and off the field.
